Introducing the 2020 ALA Board Members

With ballots mailed out on August 1, the results of the annual election largely saw a return of incumbents among the ALA board.

Tony O’Keefe, At-Large A

An architect by trade, Tony O’Keefe initially had an architectural practice in California and Arizona. His role eventually evolved, allowing him to become a CEO and Chairman of the Board for a business employed over 320 employees across eight cities throughout the two states. O’Keefe’s history in Lake Arrowhead goes back to college visits in 1960, and his involvement in the community started when he moved to town in 1986, during which he became dock captain for Dam 1 multiple dock. He has since been deeply involved in the community, from designing and rendering buildings to serving on the Lake Arrowhead Country Club board in various roles.

David Dahl, At-Large B

David Dahl’s roots in Lake Arrowhead go back four generations. His contributions to the Lake Arrowhead community are numerous and varied. He previous served as the ALA Director, ALA Lake Stabilization Committee Chairman, and ALA Shoreline Committee. Dahlh was also Vice President of Lake Arrowhead Property Owners Association, as well as a member of the Lake Arrowhead Municipal Advisory Council.

Eran Heissler, Grass Valley District

Born in Israel, Eran Heissler moved to the United States in 1979, opening his own business in the diamond industry, which eventually grew to become one of the leaders for wholesale, quality diamonds. As a Lake Arrowhead resident since 2010, Heissler was named Vice President of the ALA in 2011, a seat he still holds to this day.

Chris Wilson, North District

A full-time resident since 1990, Chris Wilson has been in the fire service for nearly 30 years, first serving in 1991. He serves as captain with a local fire department and is a dedicated father and husband.

Brian Hall, West District

Brian Hall is a lifelong resident of Lake Arrowhead. He attended the University of San Diego to complete his Bachelor of Business Administration, after which he started a career in commercial real estate brokerage and development in Corona, California. He was elected as West District Director in 2016. Outside of the ALA, Hall owns a local business and acts as junior wrestling coach at Rim High School.

What to Expect from the 2020 ALA Board

While any ALA Board of Directors can come with plenty of surprises and unexpected policies, the newly elected group mainly comprises incumbents. With that said, this group of ALA board members focuses heavily on the following issues.

Decreasing Lake Arrowhead Commercialization

One of the most prominent recent issues is the commercialization of the lake. All of the members of the current ALA Board are in favor of maintaining a private lake and reducing or eliminating ongoing commercialization, which allowed for an increased hotel presence on the lake and nearby trails, along with watercraft rights for hotels.

Infrastructure Improvements

Aside from privatization, residents should expect a general push for improvements in infrastructure from the Board. Many of the current board members listed replacing or improving docks and beaches and building new restaurants and amenities in their campaigns.

Loyalty to ALA Members

The group also has a pointed dedication to existing ALA members. Most all of the newly appointed Board promised reducing legal fees and otherwise keeping member expenses low.

It can be difficult to truly predict any new policies that the Board might enact or how it will affect you or the team at Kiwi Docks just yet, but we can hope for promising results that support the community.
